Expressions of Faith Class , on Wednesday nights, will be the same course that was in the James Park room last year. The core will made up of variety of one time topics and speakers, visiting missionaries, invited speakers of note, or church members. The topics will relate to the myriad of ways we express our faith here at First Pres. such as our global and local missions and topics that our members our passionate about. A newcomer attending this class could quickly learn the core of how First Pres. members put their faith into action and their interests. Paul Rader has organized an array of speakers and topics for the Fall Block. Below is a short description of each:
Sept 3 – Report on the 218 General Assembly, Paul Rader, Charles Snodgrass & Judy Greeson, commissioners to the General Assembly
Sept 10 – John McClure on depression, sponsored by our committee on Serious Mental Illness.
Sept 17 – David Kitts, trainer for the Police Department, domestic violence awareness
Sept 24 – Deborah Philips, Presbyterian Hunger Program
Oct 1 – NAMI (Natl. Assoc. on Mental Illness), David Mynatt to procure the speaker
Oct 8 – Global Mission: Peace & Justice itineration
Oct 15 – Morgan Scott Project
Oct 22 – Chuck Gartin: PowerPoint presentation on the climate change data gathered for ORNL.
Oct 29 – Before you vote: a quick look at values, both Christian and Civil led by Paul Rader
Nov 5 – Jonathan Heiskel, Salvation Army
Nov 12 – A presentation by the Otsenbergers on Dubai
Nov 19 – Ginny Weatherstone on VMC and their new facility.
