Youth Summit 2009

Theme – “Live the G+A+P!” Ezekiel 22:30 

What – Youth Summit is the Presbytery of East Tennessee’s Youth Council’s main event of the year. This event is for high school students from across the presbytery. There will be worship, small groups, recreation, energizers, food, and plenty of free time. Youth Summit is an experience like no other.

When – March 6-8, 2008 – We will drive the church van and leave Friday late afternoon / early evening (TBA) and be back about 1 p.m. after church on Sunday.

Where – Youth Summit is held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We will be staying at the Glenstone Lodge with all of our activities in the Gatlinburg Convention Center’s Mills Auditorium.

Registration - All participants must fill out the Registration and Medical Release Form. Return these forms with your registration fee (Make Checks out to First Presbyterian Church) to Bryce or the Church Office by Sunday, February 8.

Talk to Bryce if you need part or all of your registration fee paid for. Don’t let lack of money be a reason not to go.

Keynote Speaker – We are privileged to have Mark DeVries as our Keynote Speaker this year. Mark is the founder of Family Based Youth Ministry. For the past 18 years, he has served as the Associate Pastor for Youth and Their Families at First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tenn., where he continues to oversee the youth ministry on a part-time basis. Mark has trained youth workers across the United States, as well as in Russia, Canada, Uganda and South Africa, working with a wide variety of denominations. He has taught courses or been a guest lecturer at a number of colleges and seminaries. Mark is on the national parenting seminar team of Wayne Rice’s “Understanding Your Teenager.? In addition to partnering occasionally with popular Christian musician, Mark Schultz, Mark has also spoken at Youth Builders’ first Family-Based Youth Ministry Conference.
