RALLY DAY/OPEN HOUSE!

“WORSHIP + 2″

Sunday, August 29 9:00 a.m.

This year’s Rally Day will follow the traditional model of an open house and will feature the myriad ways in which to be involved in the life of the church.  Each committee will have a display table to highlight the different functions and activities of that group.  You will have the opportunity to speak with committee and group organizers to help you find your niche within the church community.  You are also welcome to sign up for activities that interest you.

We encourage ALL church members (and friends!) to join us on Sunday, August 29 at 9:00 a.m. Rally Day will kick-off with a catered congregational breakfast.  When the children and youth are excused to visit their new Sunday school classrooms, the adults are asked to view the displays, mingle, and sign-up to volunteer or participate in activities.

There will be a drawing that morning for exciting prizes donated from within the Knoxville community.  Some of the prizes you can win include:

  • A weekend in Montreat (courtesy of Dr. and Mrs. William Pender)
  • Autographed copies of books from local authors
  • Gourmet dinner for up to 12 people prepared and served in your home (courtesy of Mary Wilson)
  • Scrapbook supplies
  • Restaurant gift cards
  • Original artwork

There are many ways to earn tickets for the prizes.  One way is to simply show up! Another way to earn tickets is to follow the “Worship +2 theme“.  Worship + 2 means that in addition to attending church services on Sunday, you share your spiritual gifts in at least 2 other ways.  For example, you attend worship, volunteer in the FISH Pantry, and are a member of a First Fellowship group.  There are many different facets of church life; we encourage you to recognize the movement of God’s spirit in our midst, by identifying your own talents and gifts.

Rally Day continues with a pool party at the Peninsula Club, 2222 Houser Road, 37919 from 4 – 7 p.m. FOR ALL AGES! Please bring your own drinks.  Pizza and a light dessert will be delivered to the party.  The cost is $5.00 per person or $10.00 per family.  Basketball and ping pong are available as well.

Peninsula Club Directions:

I-40 E. –  Take Papermill Road exit & get in Northshore lanes.  Go through traffic light onto Northshore Drive.  Go across Kingston Pike and straight through the lights at Baum Drive and at the Northshore/Westland/Lyons View intersection.  Turn left onto Lyons Bend Road (at Westminster Presbyterian Church).  Follow this curvy road for 1.9 miles.  Turn left onto Houser Road.  The club is .8 mile on the left, just past Harrison Keepe subdivision.

I-40W – Take the Papermill Road exit.  Turn left at the light at the end of the ramp.  Turn left onto Northshore Drive.  Follow directions from above from this point forward.

Pellissippi – Exit Northshore Drive.  Head east towards the Rocky Hill area.  Go through Rocky Hill (Pilot, Weigels, Butler & Bailey, etc.).  Take a right onto Lyons Bend Road (just past Westminster Church), and follow directions from above from this point forward.
