What: From the Middle-English (Maundy) meaning “command,” this service of scripture readings and special music celebrates the last meal of Christ with his disciples and share in the sacrament of communion. It is also when we remember Christ’s new commandment, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)
Childcare: For preschool children and younger in the PDO classrooms and the nursery.

What: Cook and serve a meal for the Volunteer Ministry Center
When: Start cooking at 6:00 a.m. and serve at 7:15 a.m. (Fourth Sunday of each month)
Team Captains: Steve Doak

The Presbyterian Women, with organizers Lucie Polk and Gray Roberts, formed a group to knit items to be given to senior citizens and infants. If you knit, or would like to learn how, and are interested in participating in this service project, please contact Lucie at 249-6275 or Gray at 584-2939 for more information. 
The knitting group meets:
-The second Thursday of the month from 10:00-noon
-The Sunday meetings have been suspended for the summer months.
-The third Tuesday of the month from 10:00-noon
All of these meetings will be held in the library.

Schedule: 3:00 p.m. - 7:30pm
3:00 p.m. - Cooks arrive and begin cooking
4:00 p.m. - Servers arrive and begin to load the van
5:00 p.m. - Serve at VMC
6:00 p.m. - All PYC eats together in Fellowship Hall
6:30 p.m. - Youth Group starts and ends at 7:30 p.m.

What: FISH food pantry delivers and distributes food to Knoxville families.
When: 9:00am to 11:30am the first Tuesday of each month.
Where: FISH pantry on the lower parking deck
FISH Pantry Item of the Month: The children of the church are asking the congregation to help them with a service project. They will be collecting the following items each month in a box in the Children’s Area or the items can be given as alms after each Chapel Service. All items collected will be used to help stock our FISH pantry.

When: Always the first Saturday during the school year.
8:00am on Saturday, January 10
Speaker: David Morelle, auditor for Cariten Healthcare. He will speak on the proposed Fair Tax Plan , a timely topic of interest.
What: This group meets for breakfast followed by a speaker from the local church-at-large or the Knoxville community. The breakfast is prepared by the Men of the Church. Come enjoy a hardy breakfast of eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fried apples, and great fellowship. The speakers lecture on a variety of topics and are often affiliated with the University of Tennessee.
Where: Fellowship Hall for breakfast and then the James Park room for the speaker.

What: Parents’ Night Out (PNO) is held on the second Friday of every month starting at 5:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Please make your reservations with Colleen Manrod, 705-9534, by Tuesday of that week. THERE IS NOT PNO FOR JANUARY OR JULY.
The rates are as follows:
$25 One Child
$35 Two Children
$40 Three Children
Half off any of these rates for church members attending a First Fellowship meal.
Voluntary dinner provided to the child(ren) for $2.50 per child. Please request dinner when you RSVP.

The Presbytery Meeting will begin at 3:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Our newly-elected pastor, Dr. William Pender, will be received into the Presbytery of East Tennessee at this time. Dr. Pender will be driving to Knoxville from Montreat and returning to Montreat immediately following the meeting, therefore, there will not be the opportunity to meet him on the 21st, but your support for him by your attendance will be appreciated.
