The Handbell Ensemble rang for a packed audience at the Christmas in the City Celebration of Lights. The event was held at Krutch Park Extension on Friday, November 28 and included an address by Mayor Bill Haslam and music by the Knoxville Choral Society, Lenoir HS Chorus, and the First Presbyterian Handbell Ensemble. This is the second community event of the year in which the ensemble has been invited to participate. On July 4th, the ensemble was one of many handbell choirs across the country selected to play for the National Bellringing Ceremony, “Let Freedom Ring.” The Knoxville program was a part of the July 4th celebration at the World’s Fair Park. This event led to an appearance on the popular local TV show, Live at Five. UPCOMING: The Handbell Ensemble will ring for another civic event, First Night, a New Year’s Eve celebration across the city, on December 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Miller Building Atrium on Gay Street.
Host families are needed for the upcoming concert by the College of Wooster Symphonic Band, Pipes, Drums, and Dancers on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Host families will provide lodging Sunday night, and breakfast and transportation back to church Monday morning.
