This portion of the visitation page is designed for the newcomer, to give you some insight into this maze-like church building so that you might be more familiar and comfortable when you arrive.
# P1- This level is a parking garage for members and visitors. It may be accessed by Central Avenue.
# P2- On this level, you will find an outdoor parking deck. The entrance on this level leads you to the Jesus’ Friends Sunday School Class for mentally challenged adults. They are often outside as members arrive, offering a friendly good morning or a welcoming hug.
# Office Level- This floor offers another parking deck used primarily by older members of the church who have a difficult time climbing stairs. Spaces are also reserved on this level for visitors. In the building, you will find the pastoral offices and the session room. The door to this level remains open during office hours throughout the week.
# 2nd Floor- On this floor you can find the Fellowship Hall (used for coffee fellowship and Wednesday and Sunday meals), adult Sunday School classes, children’s classes, the church kitchen, and the library. If you arrive and are not greeted at the door, someone on this level would be more than happy to help you find where you need to go.
# 3rd Floor- On this floor you find the sanctuary and the chapel. There are also adult Sunday School classes that meet on this floor, the church parlor, and the rehearsal room for the handbell choir is here as well.
# 4th Floor- The elevator does not reach this floor, but here you find the youth division and the choir rehearsal room.
If you have children with you, there are a variety of children’s classes both for Sunday School and nursery care and children’s church (kindergarten through 2nd grade)during 11:00 worship. Children’s classes are located directly under the sanctuary and nursery care is just down the hall.
Upon entering the sanctuary, a deacon will hand you a bulletin. This is your “script” for the service.
If you are unfamiliar with Presbyterian worship, we invite you to visit the Order of Worship page.
Using your bulletin as a guide, you may unite with those worshiping with you in prayer, singing, and listening. (Learn more about the Music program of First Presbyterian.) It is always our prayer that the Holy Spirit be in our midst as we worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
During the service, there is a time to sign the “friendship pad.” If you choose to do this and provide your phone number, e-mail address, or home address, someone from the church will contact you to answer any further questions you may have.
