Who died Oc’br 11, 1838 in the 41 year of his age.
He was taken in the prime of life from an affectionate
wife and five children and died respected, beloved
and lamented. The strict integrity of his life formed
no ground of his hope of a happy immortality but
he died trusting alone on the precious atonement of
Jesus Christ -
“Forgive, much loved one the tributary tear
That mourns thy exit from a world like this.
Forgive the wish that would keep thee here,
And stay thy progress from the (?) of bliss.
Go then where only bliss sincere is known
Where to live and enjoy is one.
Yet take these tears mortal relief
And still we share your joys, forgive our grief.”Jane Scott [202]
