You Are Changing the World Whether You Like It or Not
Time: 6:30-7:30pm (after dinner on Worshipful Wednesday) in the James Park Room
Join us for a four-week book study on David LaMotte's You Are Changing the World Whether You Like It or Not as we continue our theme year, "Seeking God's Peace: Reflect, Connect, Serve." Together, we will explore what it means to be a peacemaker in the world—discussing how small actions can lead to big change, overcoming cynicism, building community, and living with purpose. This is a chance for reflection, connection, and practical discussions on how we can serve as agents of peace in our daily lives.
Dates for the book study:
September 25 - Introduction, Chapter 1 (The Myth of Helplessness), Chapter 2 (The Power of Small Actions) We'll begin by exploring how even the smallest actions can create significant change and why no act is too small to make a difference.
October 2 - Chapter 3 (Cynicism is a Decision), Chapter 4 (Realistic Hope) This week, we will focus on combating cynicism and holding onto hope, even in challenging times.
October 9 - Fall Break, No Worshipful Wednesday
October 16 - Chapter 5 (Community Matters), Chapter 6 (Collective Action), Chapter 7 (The Power of Relationships) We'll discuss the importance of community and working together to create lasting change.
October 23 - Chapter 8 (Aligning Actions with Values), Chapter 9 (Taking the Next Step), Conclusion In our final session, we'll look at how to align our values with our actions and live a life of purpose.
Also, don’t miss a special event on Sunday, November 3rd, when we will host David LaMotte at our church! He will give a TED Talk on the book during Sunday school, preach during worship, and offer a concert after church.
