Join the Legacy of Presbyterian Women at FPC
Presbyterian Women (PW) offers women in the church meaningful ways to live out their faith in the midst of a caring community of women. It is an independent organization within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) of more than 300,000 women. For more than 200 years Presbyterian women’s groups have strengthened the Presbyterian Church and played a major role in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and witnessing to the promise of God’s kingdom. The programming and resource options for the organization offer a variety of ways for women to live out their faith in an inclusive, caring community.
Purpose: Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves
to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
to support the mission of the church worldwide,
to work for justice and peace, and
to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.
One of the best ways to get plugged in to First Presbyterian is to join a circle through Presbyterian Women. If you would like to connect, please click on the “join a circle” link below, or get in touch with moderators Laura Barton or Jenny Bryan through the church office at church@fpcknox.org or (865) 546-2531.

PW History
Over 200 Years of mission, service, spiritual growth and community. Learn about our legacy.
My own involvement in PW started about ten years ago. I did not know the other women well and never excelled at making new friends. The circle began with once monthly meetings, and then it really took off. It’s hard for me to believe that it has only been ten years since it began. Now my life is so full of best friends! These ladies are so thoroughly intertwined in my life, both in and out of church: vacations, parties, meals, childcare, and certainly we support each other when times are tough too. Our children have grown up together in the church and are friends as well. These are the types of relationships I hope you will take the leap to enjoy; I want you to have what we have!
