Lenten Study: Sermon on the Mount

This Lent, join us for Worshipful Wednesdays as we engage in a study of Amy-Jill Levine’s Sermon on the Mount: A Beginner’s Guide to the Kingdom of Heaven. Through Scripture and discussion, we will focus on the Kingdom of Heaven that Christ proclaims, preparing our hearts and minds for Dr. Amy-Jill Levine’s upcoming visit as the 2025 Pettway Series Speaker.

Schedule:

March 12 – The Beatitudes (Chapter 1) – Led by Meredith

March 19 – No Worshipful Wednesday (Spring Break)

March 26 – Practicing Piety (Chapter 3) – Led by Mark

April 2 – Our Father (Chapter 4) – Led by Mary

April 6 (Sunday School Hour) – The Extensions with Dr. Amy-Jill Levine

April 9 – Living into the Kingdom (Chapter 6) – Led by Andy

In addition to this study, we encourage participants to use Toward the Kingdom of Heaven: 40 Daily Readings on the Sermon on the Mount as a devotional companion throughout Lent.

Dinner begins at 5:30 PM, followed by the program at 6:30 PM.

This series is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Jesus’ teaching and reflect on how we can live lives inspired by the Kingdom of Heaven.
