"Pathways to Peace" at Worshipful Wednesday on September 4th features Yassin Terou

We are excited to have Yassin Terou of Yassin’s Falafel House as the first speaker in our “Pathways to Peace” series on Wednesday, September 4th! Join us for this special program at 6:30 to learn about Yassin’s story and his impact on the Knoxville community. A refugee from Syria, Yassin first made a name for himself through his cooking. After opening his restaurant, he regularly hires other refugees, delivers food to the homeless, and feeds families after disasters.

But he’s known not just for his delicious food but for his activism around unity, inclusion, and peace which quickly made him a local celebrity. The sign posted at the entrance to his restaurant reads: "All sizes, all colors, all ages, all sexes, all cultures, all religions, all types, all beliefs, all people, safe here at Yassin’s Falafel House.” Good Morning America named Yassin’s Falafel House the “Nicest Place in America” in 2018 and the Director of the FBI Knoxville awarded him the Director’s Community Leadership Award in 2019.

Please join us in welcoming Yassin! Dinner will begin at 5:30 with the program to follow.
