Volunteer Ministry Center Presents "Carry the Torch Knoxville", a benefit luncheon featuring Darryl Strawberry, baseball legend, author, and minister at the Knoxville Convention Center on November 14th. The event will feature a mission fair from 10 - 11:45, a luncheon at 11:45, and a book signing from 1 - 2 pm.

VMC is an important local missions partner with First Presbyterian. Typically, several members of FPC will sponsor tables at this powerful fundraising event. VMC's mission is to end and prevent homelessness through compassion, accountability and results. VMC operates several main programs: The VMC Resource Center, The Bush Family Refuge, Minvilla Manor, Street Outreach, The Foyer and The VMC Dental Clinic. Table Sponsorship deadline is October 20th.

Utilizing case management and the ‘Housing First’ approach to ending homelessness, VMC assists individuals into permanent, supportive housing and provides the resources necessary to maintain it. Once housing is achieved, the case management relationship continues until a level of self-sufficiency is reached, thus ensuring success.
