A Night of Faith and Unity: Nehemiah Action Assembly Draws Over 1,500 People

On Tuesday, April 8th, more than 1,500 people from across Knoxville gathered for the Nehemiah Action Assembly, organized by Justice Knox and held at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium. The event brought together a wide range of participants, including local clergy, faith communities, City Council members, Mayor Indya Kincannon, and Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs.

The assembly focused on three key issues currently facing Knoxville:

  • Housing Instability

  • Homelessness

  • Public Transportation

Each topic included a presentation of the issue, a review of progress made so far, proposed solutions, and personal testimonies from community members. Attendees also heard requests made to city and county leaders to consider further action in these areas.

While not all proposed goals were achieved during the event, the evening provided an opportunity for open dialogue and highlighted ongoing efforts to address community needs.

We are grateful for Associate Pastor Meredith Loftis, who continues to represent our church in this important work. Her (and our congregation's) involvement reflects a thoughtful and steady commitment to improving the lives of people in Knoxville through partnerships and community-based initiatives. If you would like to learn more about Justice Knox, please contact Meredith at meredith@fpcknox.org.

May we continue to seek the good of our city — together.
