A Warm Welcome to Our New Youth Minister: Katelyn Finch
Since late 2023, a committee comprised of Holly Eddins, Abby Bible, Kallee Pittenger, Travis Maryanski, and Andy Morgan (Staff Liaison), with the support and guidance of Mark Curtis (Head of Staff) and the Personnel Committee, has been prayerfully discerning a sustainable model for youth ministry at First Presbyterian Church. This dedicated group has crafted a ministry position to lead our youth ministry and help uphold the baptismal promises made at the font. After numerous meetings, prayers, and a listening session with parents and youth, we finalized the job description and began our search.
We are thrilled to announce that a candidate has been unanimously and enthusiastically selected by the Search Committee and approved by the Personnel Committee. Our new Youth Minister will begin her role on August 1st.
Meet Katelyn Finch
Katelyn Finch has been a Presbyterian since childhood and has actively participated in UKirk ministries, as well as leadership roles in camp and conference ministries. She graduated from Auburn University in 2022 with a degree in Hospitality and has recently been accepted into the dual-degree program (M.Div and M.A.C.E.) at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Katelyn has a deep faith and an inspiring record of service to youth in many capacities. Throughout her interview process, the committee was impressed by her wisdom and her commitment to building relationships with youth. As she continues to explore her sense of call to ordained ministry through her seminary training, we are excited to support her in translating important concepts from the classroom to the youth room.
Please join us in welcoming Katelyn Finch (and her boyfriend, JP) to the staff and church family of First Presbyterian Church!
