Bill Eversole’s Stewardship offering - October 14
Good morning,
Well,
The leaves are starting to change,
The mornings are getting cooler,
School Fall break is ending,
It’s football time in East Tennessee,
So, it must be Stewardship Time at First Presbyterian.
Each year at this time, we place a little extra emphasis on stewardship. We remind everyone that Stewardship is an ethical value that embodies the responsible planning and management of resources. In this case, our church and it’s many missions.
I won’t embarrass you by asking if you remember the theme of last year’s stewardship campaign.
This year’s theme is:
“Filled with all the FULLness of God”
ThankFULL for God’s faithfulness (our past)
JoyFULL in God’s blessings (our present)
HopeFULL for where God is leading us (our future)
FaithFULL to God’s call (our giving)
Fullness is very appropriate. Our lives are so full of work, family, school, and friends that we sometimes feel we have very little time for ourselves. We can forget that our lives are also full of God’s love and God’s grace. So, a moment for Stewardship gives us that little pause to be quiet and be thankful for our many blessings. To be thankful for our church staff, and our church missions that make our lives and the lives of many others a little better. So, embrace Fullness and celebrate the Fullness of God’s love.
Our stewardship scripture is:
Ephesians 3:18-21 This part of a long prayer of Paul about his stewardship.
“I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, for ever and ever. Amen”
When you receive your pledge card, prayerfully consider what God is asking you to do. How does God want you to use your resources to further God’s work through First Presbyterian Church? How can your gift be an act of worship?
• If you are a long-time pledger, thank you very much.
• If you are a regular giver, please consider pledging. Pledging makes it easier to plan for our future.
• If you are new to stewardship, embrace the spiritual discipline and mechanisms of regularly giving through a pledge.
Your 2024 pledge can be made electronically via the church’s website: http://www.fpcknox.org/stewardship-form or by mailing the pledge card to the church office. You can also drop your pledge card in the collection plate or call the church office at (865) 546-2531.
After you’ve made your pledge, go ahead, and make your regular giving easier by setting up online giving, accessible from the FPC website. There is also a free mobile app available to make giving even easier.
Thank you,
Oh, by the way, the 2022 Stewardship Theme was:
Celebrating 230 Years
• Remembering our past
• Living our Present
• Preparing for our Future
