Congratulations to Rachel Patton McCord

The board of trustees at the University of Tennessee met last week and voted to award tenure to Rachel Patton McCord. We are so excited for her and this major accomplishment. Rachel is a professor in the Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology department of the school of Arts and Sciences at UTK.

Rachel also heads up the McCord lab, which studies and deciphers the 3d genome structure of the human cell. This research facility is doing critical work in understanding cancer, developmental disorders, premature aging disorders, and other diseases.

Tenured professors are offered the academic freedom to pursue ongoing innovative research projects and mentor students and emerging scholars in their field. We are so proud of Rachel and her amazing work.
