Flower Guild

The Flower Guild held its annual kick-off meeting Thursday October 12th in honor of Mary Spengler, long-time supporter and contributor to the guild, its members, and First Presbyterian Church. Natalie Hall, owner of Cachepot Floral and Garden Shop and early employee at Mary's Flower Market was happy to help us honor Mary with a flower workshop.

Natalie generously opened her inspiring retail to us while we visited over hor d' houvres, followed with a brief business meeting. While Natalie prepared a stunning asymmetrical arrangement for the Narthex/Chapel she not only explained her design process, she conveyed Mary's influence as an employer. Natalie's simmering interest in flowers and their arrangement was nurtured through Mary's mentoring and positive reinforcement which led to added responsibilities and built a lasting friendship. The Narthex/Chapel arrangement as well as two Chancel arrangements graced our October 15th services and were "given to the Glory of God and in honor of Mary Spengler with love and appreciation by the Flower Guild."

Guild members able to attend were Anne Pittenger, Holli Rogers, Sarah Cassell, Becky Tate, Sarah Henderson, Sylvia McLaurin, Anne Hart, and Emily Campen. We give special thanks to our guest Katie Norrell for taking pictures of our fellowship.
