Hurricane Helene Relief Strategy at FPC; Food and water are needed and can be delivered on P1
First Presbyterian Church is dedicated to hurricane relief efforts, working with partner organizations in three key phases:
Emergency Aid: Providing urgent help, such as food, water, and basic care to those affected by the hurricane.
Clean-up efforts: Once the immediate crisis has subsided, the focus shifts to removing debris and clearing damaged areas. Volunteers and community partners work together to create a safer environment and prepare for the next phase of recovery.
Rebuilding: Long-term rebuilding of homes, businesses, and infrastructure. This is where sustainable recovery begins, ensuring that communities can be restored and made stronger.
Partnering with the Presbytery of East Tennessee (PET) and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA), we will provide both immediate and long-term support.
Our goal at First Presbyterian is to be as strategic as possible, mobilizing our community to focus on the most impactful projects. We will keep you informed as we work together on short and long-term solutions. Your donations, volunteer hours, and ongoing support are deeply appreciated, as is your faith, prayers and care for these communities.
As we continue our efforts, we are now working with the PET to gather food items to support areas affected in the Holston Presbytery. We are still gathering water and your donations of food are greatly appreciated. You can place the following food items in a box in the stairwell on P1, in the door to the right of the elevator. We will be delivering these to the PET drop sites weekly.
Items needed for those in the Holston Presbytery:
Protein bars
Bottled water
Breakfast bars
Peanut butter
Dried fruit in bags/easy open containers
Canned meats (chicken, ham) with pull tabs
Tuna in pouches or cans with the pull tabs
(Please provide small servings of meat or tuna that won’t require refrigeration after opening, and please only donate cans with pull tabs that don't need a can opener.)
You can also support the Hurricane Relief efforts below financially. Thank you!
