Join or Lead a First Fellowship Group!
As we approach the end of the year, I have two questions for you all: Do you like food? Do you like fellowship? If the answer to those questions is yes, then please consider signing up for our next round of First Fellowship groups. This ministry is a fantastic way for newer members to develop relationships with some of our congregants or for our established members to deepen the relationships they already have. Groups are assigned twice per year, and each group is encouraged to meet for a meal and fellowship on a regular basis – most groups aim for a monthly get together, but we hope that everyone is able to join in at least 4 gatherings per session. You are not required to host the group in your home, but you may be asked to come up with an appropriate alternative location (a restaurant or possibly a local park for a picnic-style meal) for one gathering. If you are able to host a gathering in your home, other group members will contribute to the meal by bringing side dishes, desserts, etc.
For our members that are familiar with the First Fellowship groups, I am adding a plea for group leaders. As participation has swelled, our group leader pool has not increased at the same rate. This has led to larger than average groups the last few sessions, which makes it much more difficult to host groups in homes. In order to get our group sizes down to a more manageable number, we definitely need more leaders. As a leader, your primary task is to provide guidance and keep your group organized. It’s more about keeping track of who is organizing the current or next gathering as opposed to being in charge of everything the whole time. Please consider leading a group for the upcoming session so that we can get back to more manageable group size.
