Mission Market Feature - Keepsake Purses

Amin Muradi, who had worked with US forces, escaped Afghanistan with his wife Khatija, 4 children, 2 suitcases and $400. A fifth baby was born after they resettled in Knoxville though the auspices of Bridge Refugee Services and Community Assistance Teams (CATs) from Westminster and Lake Hills Presbyterian Churches.

One of Khatija Muradi’s custom made purses - more are available for purchase at the Mission Market.

Khatija helps support her family by making beautiful keepsake purses from re-purposed neckties and ornaments. Beginning Sunday, October 13, one-of-a-kind purses will be for sale in the Mission Market for $25 each. The entire sale amount will go to the Muradi family.

Khatija also accepts special orders for $25 each. You supply the necktie plus an ornament (or she will supply one appropriate to the tie's design). What a wonderful gift by which to remember a loved one. See the link to an order form or the sign with the purse display in the glass case in The Commons.
