Stacy Davis Stewardship Offering

Ginny Morrow, Stacy Davis, Bill Morrow

The Stewardship theme this year is “Remembering our past; living our present; preparing our future.” Stacy Davis gave the stewardship offering last Sunday:

Many of you know that I grew up in this church and I’d like to share a remembrance with you this morning. When I was in fourth or fifth grade, the children in the church put on a play. It was a musical called It’s Cool in the Furnace. Those of you who lived through the 70’s know that everything was either “cool” or “groovy.” We were really cool. Only one adult was in the play, and he played King Nebuchadnezzar. I guess they didn’t want a kid to be the villain in the story. The rest of the cast were children, and I was in the choir that sang the songs that told the story. To this day I can still sing the opening line of that play. I can also picture Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego heading into the fiery furnace – made of cardboard and construction paper. We must have been pretty good, because after performing the play in the chapel, we went on to perform the musical in another church across town and in a nursing home. It was a lot of fun, and we learned a lot, too.

Pledge cards will be mailed the middle of this month, and we will have a special time in the service at the end of the month for the cards to be collected. I’d like to ask that when making your pledge for 2023, please prayerfully consider your giving so that the children of the present, like those of the past, have good memories for the future. Thank you!
