Celeste Whaley celebrated "Grandfriends Day" with Kaylyn Smith

Grandparents and Grandfriends Day is a time for celebrating the important contribution inter-generational relationships have to the wellbeing and education of children within the family and community. Grandparents come in all shapes and sizes; you have paternal grandparents, step-grandparents, and those grandparents that are not blood-related but hold a very special place in your heart. Celeste Whaley and Kaylyn Smith celebrated Grandfriends Day this week at Sterchi Elementary.

Grandparents and children have a special connection that is proven to both make older adults live longer, and also make children more emotionally resilient. We need the wisdom, faith and perspective that these special adults in our lives bring. Grandparents and Grandfriends Day is an opportunity to treasure that connection and spend some quality time together.

We honor all of our adults who invest in the lives of our children at First Presbyterian. Thank you for your love and your service.
