Habitat for Humanity Update

The Blitz Day event last Saturday was a resounding success. The overnight rain stopped just about an hour before workers arrived at the site. Volunteers from First Church and the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan then met the eventual owner of the Habitat House, Dominique, along with one of her daughters; heard Mark Curtis deliver a brief meditation; recited a prayer together; and then began erecting the exterior walls. Linn Acree, her husband Ed, and daughter Kallee supplied more than an ample amount of food and drink; Mary Wilson helped in getting the food; and several women from First Church baked cookies, which were a nice treat for the workers.

The next building date is April 13, at which time professional Habitat staff will supervise volunteers in erecting the house’s interior walls. As of March 26, only one volunteer slot remained to be filled (on April 27). Jehovah Jireh!

To create an account and register for that slot, or to be put on a waiting list for the other remaining dates (April 20, June 1 and 15), go to the following Habitat web address:

NOTE: All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and at least 18 to use a power tool or climb a ladder. No children are allowed at the building site.

Thanks, as always, for your ongoing prayers for this project.
