Hurricane Relief Donations Delivered to Newport Grammar School
Last week, Pam Teague delivered donations from our Hurricane Relief efforts at First Presbyterian to Newport Grammar School in Newport, TN. This school, serving pre-K through 8th grade, is one of the main schools in Cocke County, which was heavily impacted by the floods and storms caused by Hurricane Helene. The school was deeply grateful for the support, and Pam’s car was packed with donations!
Normally, the school has two homeless students, but due to the disaster, that number has risen to 17. Many students have yet to return to school. The cases of water we provided were distributed to classrooms since the water fountains can’t be used until filters are replaced and the water is deemed safe to drink. Other donated items, such as protein and canned goods, were sorted into baskets to be sent home with students in need. Every item was greatly appreciated.
Pam’s friend Lisa joined her to help deliver the food and water that our church collected. While there, they also purchased gift cards from Walmart for the school to distribute to families in need. Pam and Lisa were deeply moved by the gratitude of the students and teachers.
Thank you all for your generous contributions to hurricane relief. Through these acts of love, we have been able to bless those in need and share the love of God with our neighbors.
