Join the Foundation Builders’ Sunday School Class for an Exciting Study Series with Amy-Jill Levine!
In anticipation of Amy-Jill Levine’s visit to First Presbyterian Church on April 5 and 6, 2025, the Foundation Builders’ Class will be engaging with her thought-provoking DVD series in the months leading up to her visit. We’ll explore several of her works that shed fresh light on the teachings of Jesus and the New Testament.
Starting with her DVD series on The Short Stories of Jesus (parables) during the last two Sundays in November, we’ll transition to her Advent DVD series during the season of Advent. After the new year, we’ll return to the parables for several weeks, followed by additional series from her extensive body of work to carry us through to April. Each session will include watching the DVDs together, followed by class discussions.
Amy-Jill Levine, a Jewish scholar and former Professor of New Testament at Vanderbilt Divinity School, offers a unique perspective that bridges Jewish and Christian understandings of the New Testament. As a highly sought-after guest lecturer in the U.S. and abroad, her insights are both engaging and thought-provoking. Our class has greatly benefited from her materials in past years and is excited to dive into her teachings again.
We warmly invite anyone interested to join us in this journey of discovery and discussion. Whether you’re new to her work or already a fan, this promises to be an enriching time of learning and fellowship.
The Foundation Builders’ Class meets Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in Heritage Classroom B on the third floor, just outside the Sanctuary doors on the lectern side. Come join us as we prepare for this exciting visit and deepen our understanding of the New Testament together.
