Stacy Davis Stewardship Offering

In an AirB&B near Asheville, NC, I saw a sign on the wall that said “Travel – the only thing you buy that makes you richer.” Any of you who have been fortunate enough to travel would likely agree. Traveling is not only educational but allows you to have adventures, make new friends, or simply relax and recharge. It is the experiences we encounter while traveling that make us richer for it.

Now I’d like to twist that phrase a bit for our Stewardship season. I would say “Pledge – the spending that makes you richer.” Can a pledge do that? Absolutely! The pledges to this church have given me countless enriching experiences all of my life. I’ve talked about some of those in the last few years, playing Bible baseball, singing "It’s Cool in the Furnace", going to Camp John Knox. Pledges and giving from the adults when I was young made all those things possible. I’m glad that I increased my pledge last year because increased giving allowed us to hire Andy Morgan who is creating new experiences for all of us. I’ll bet most of you had never made slime before last Wednesday night! I will be increasing my pledge again this year to make sure he and Kallee Pittenger have the resources they need for the great children and youth programs like I had when I was young.

The new Vanco app that we can download onto our phones is a great way to fulfill the pledge! You download it from the app store or Google Play. Using it, I can get a donation done on my phone in the time it takes the deacons to pass the collection plate. I’d be happy to show anyone how to do it.

Pledge – the spending that makes you richer. Think of the ways this church makes you richer and join me in making a pledge next Sunday. And we will all be filled with the fullness of God.
