From the Mouth of Boyds Creek: A History of Seymour, Tennessee, and the Boyds Creek Valley

This book is a chronological history of the Boyds Creek Valley, exploring both the land and its people and linking the history of Sevier County, Appalachia, Tennessee, and the nation. From the indigenous people who stewarded the land to those who took it from them, the story unfolds among the valley's plantations and small farms and lifts up those of African descent who toiled in slavery and secured their freedom fighting for the Union. It is an essential read for understanding the complex history of the Boyds Creek Valley, a bedroom community to Knoxville in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
