Price Increase at Mission Market Supports Small Farmers Worldwide

These are South African farmers who work for Turqle Trading, a fair trade organization that partners with SERRV to sell delicious vinegars and spices in the Mission Market. Your purchases of products from the Mission Market help to create jobs in countries with significant levels of unemployment and poverty. Learn more about the Mission Market on the FPC website here.

The First Presbyterian Mission Market has made the hard decision to raise some of its prices as of Feb. 9. All our high-quality, fair-trade products from across the globe are still available. (Please click here for our new price list.)

Higher prices are caused by difficulties facing all our suppliers -- SERRV, Equal Exchange, Ten Thousand Villages, Global Mamas and Koinonia, among others.

Those organizations struggle with supply chain disruptions, rising transportation costs, and challenges presented by climate change. But fair-trade vendors and customers like you help small farmers and artisans all over the world to receive a fair price for their goods. Please watch this short video to learn more, and shop in the Mission Market for your delicious chocolate, coffee and other groceries and handmade goods. You can still buy delicious Koinonia Granola, on sale for only $7.70 for a half-pound bag. That's an 80 cents savings!

The Mission Market is located on the second floor of First Presbyterian, near the Commons area, James Park Classroom, and the Fellowship Hall. You can shop on Sundays from 9:30-10:50 a.m., or other days by appointment. Contact: Colleen Shannon, bakhom@earthlink.net
